School is almost out for the summer

I have had an amazing experience with this class IS101 I am very sad for it to be over because it has honestly been one of my favorites. I love the flexibility, motivation and ability for bonus credit. I have not only learned a lot about MOS systems, but I have also had the pleasure to get to know my classmates a bit better. Getting to discuss fears, goal and aspirations with everyone has been uplifting. Knowing that we all may be facing different experiences and obstacles but have the drive to finish strong is so connecting. I want to say thank you for all the kind words, I hope I make my 3 sons proud, I am proud of myself for not giving up. I am still wanting to achieve my bachelor's degree but as someone pointed out to me recently and Associates is no small feat and I should celebrate my progress. I have only 3 courses left before I graduate in the fall.

I chose 6.9.3 Slide Zoom for my discussion post. I never knew this was an option, but I really like this feature. To use this feature, click on the Inset Tab, place your cursor where you would like to insert the slide zoom option then choose which slides you would like to feature. The purpose of the slide zoom is to navigate between the slides out of order. After inserting the chosen slides make sure that they do not overlap and voila you are done!

I would just like to end this post saying that regardless of where you ended up in this course it was very tough. For those who did exceedingly well congrats, and for those who fell behind I just hope you learned something. Life is full of trials and tribulations and if we fail at something it just means we have to better prepared next time. There will always be challenges in life at work, home, school etc.... don't get tied up in the small things. If you have to take this class again or others at least it will be so much easier since you know what to expect.

I just about fell apart last semester because I've been acing all my classes and I thought I failed my pre-calculus class. Turns out I passed with a C+, to me that still felt like failure because it is my worst grade, but I learned something. I had taken the course online in a self-teach fashion and with my idiosyncrasy's my ADHD in particular, I struggled to keep up. The class demanded so much, and I pushed myself but still struggled with the timed test. I now know that self-paced classes are not my style and going into class I absorb so much more. With that being said, everyone faces challenges and I hope you keep your head up and continue to face them. Challenge yourself and remember that showing up is half the battle!

My presentation this year was about hiking because you always want to put your mask on first. You want to take care of your mind body and soul, so remember to exercise, hiking is a great way to relief stress and enjoy a nice adventure. Keep pushing forward and living life, stop to smell the roses and don't forget why you started your journey to begin with.

  1. Hi Zakiyyah, I really enjoyed reading that, you're definitely one to not give up and I know you'll do great in your final semester and graduate soon. I'm sure your sons are very proud of what you accomplished and I know that will inspire them to be successful in life. The hiking pictures and your PowerPoint presentation actually makes me want to go hiking! I go to the gym every week and I know hiking is a great cardio workout. Have a good one and keep it up!

  2. As similar to my other comments with the other blog post that you made. You are an inspiration to the people around you. Having children and doing college is not an easy feat, so seeing you succeed in this class with flying colors is something really commendable. If anything, it didn't strike me as you would have kids on how advanced you did the assignments and how much ahead you are with everyone in the class. Hopefully I can go back into the phase of me going to hikes and enjoying them. Thanks to your presentation, it gave me an idea on spots to hike to and could research more about it. Keep going strong on your journey and make everything count in what you do and your new job. Advance congratulations on your fall graduation!

  3. Hi Zakiyyah, I can relate to your post because sometimes continuing forward is less about motivation and more about refusing to fail after putting so much time and effort into something. I also have trouble balancing things in life, but I keep pushing myself because I do not want all the stress, lack of sleep, and effort to end up meaning nothing in the end. Sometimes I imagine people judging or mocking failure too, and that thought alone is enough to keep me moving even when I feel exhausted.

  4. I’m not going to lie, as I was reading your post, I thought you should be very proud of yourself. As you said, life has its ups and downs, and sometimes we feel like giving up, but continuing to push forward despite the challenges is what really matters. You’ve accomplished a lot already, and I’m sure your sons are very proud of you.

  5. Hi Zakiyyah, I congrats on completing BQ1 almost on the first try? If I'm not mistaken. At the end of the day, a grade is just a letter, the fact that you basically taught yourself Pre-Calculus and had the discipline to do so and pass is incredible! Don't beat yourself up over it, you're doing great and good luck with your last 3 courses!

  7. Hello Zakiyyah. I'm happy that you had such an amazing experience in this class, I guarantee you sons are proud of you. It's a difficult class and I always see you getting kudos in the class-wide emails so I know you're doing well. Hiking is something I really love, it's good to get away. I'm glad there are people who love hiking as well. Best of luck!

  9. Zakiyyah you highlighted something really well, the flexibility and room for error is a wide margin. You are able to make up assignments and cover those missed points with bonus material. It's definitely something in this class I'm appreciative of.

  10. Hi Zakiyahh. Your point about “showing up is half the battle” really stood out to me. People should always strive, even when there are challenges.

  11. Hi Zakiyahh I agree with the hiking I remember going with a friend and well it showed me how much my body can handle and i gotta say it wasn't a lot. Fitness is key in life i always thought maybe cause I'm getting old but in realty I'm still young and ever since i started excursing it feels like I'm more younger giving how much i trained my body. You are definitely right how it can take care the mind, the soul and the body.
